A victory of the Brazilian software
The newspaper “O Estado de São Paulo” on 28th Sept 2003, on the article of the journalist Ethevaldo Siqueira, under the title “A victory of the Brazilian software”, brings a profile of the Brazilian software pointing out that it has the
potencial to “take off and soar to conquer the world”. Based on a study denominated “The Software Industry in Brazil – 2002, elaborated by Softex in partnership with Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the famous MIT, comparing the market in Brazil, China and India, the author points out that the study concludes that “the Brazilian industry of Information Technology (IT) is ready to compete side by side with their big international competitors.
According to the author, among the 3 countries studied, Brazil has the biggest internal market of software of US$ 7,7billion exporting only 1,5% from this total on products and services what contrasts deeply with India whose exports overcome 70% of the total market of US$ 8,2 billion basically on services. The Chinese market reaches US$ 7,4 billion, 60% which is represented by services and exports of only 5,5%.
Highlighting the emerging of new companies, the author highlights: “Some of the best Brazilian software companies are still unknown to the public. However, many of them should become giants in few years.
